This primer for Life is based upon the book “This Thing Called You” by Dr. Ernest Holmes and is designed to share Dr. Holmes’ incredible work with your children and grandchildren. All of the world’s religions teach the same basic truths, what Dr. Holmes called the ‘core concept’ and The Golden Thread of Truth. Within each chapter, we share some insight from the sacred texts of different world religions and traditions to illustrate this unity.
Many of the teachings within are quoted verbatim from his book while some of the metaphors are updated to reflect our children’s understanding of society today (i.e. the constant availability of wireless instead of electricity to illustrate the constant availability of God’s power). In addition, new material is scattered throughout.
Each chapter is broken into two sections. The first, with accompanying lessons, quotes and crafts, is for everyone. The second, includes a more advanced discussion of the material with experiential activities to deepen the message for tweens and teens and help them understand the meaning of the lesson for THEIR lives. Examples from nature are used as metaphors for the way Life works.
